ABOUT CLUB DU MONDE

Club du Monde was set up to be Bournemouth 's world music club, launched in November 2006. Established courtesy of a grant from Awards for All, the Club's mission was to bring to this region fantastic live music from around the world. Educational workshops complement the evening gigs, organised by our partner organisation, SoundStorm at Dorset Music Service. The Club is a non-profit making society, established by enthusiasts anxious to fill the gap in Bournemouth 's cultural make-up.

Club du Monde organised nine gigs between November 2006 and November 2007. The motto was " Vive le Club Du Monde! World Music Lives!"

...... except it didn't! It ran out of funds.

Due to lack of public funding, Club du Monde has not been able to organise regular gigs since 2007. Bournemouth Folk Club has taken an active role in supporting Club du Monde and has helped to re-establish a programme of world music events from September 2009.
